Brocklrocks Renovations has officially been in existence since the beginning of 2005, but it’s roots stretch back much further than that.  It is the brainchild of Jason Brocklebank and Jim Horrocks, brothers in law both hailing from Welland. 

In 2001, Jason found himself laid off from a plant in Hamilton.  Having just purchased his first home, he found himself in need of work and quick.  He contacted Gary Robbins, a family friend as he heard he might need some help.  He had always enjoyed doing construction related projects and was quite skilled in several areas.  Gary took him on and it turned out to be the best thing for Jason.  Building on what he already knew, and learning so much more from Gary, he felt he found his calling in life.

Up until recently, Jim’s entire career had centered around the restaurant industry, his renovation experience garnered from weekend dabbling and many home projects.  Deciding he needed a change, one that took him out of the restaurant industry for good and more into working with his hands, he quit his job and began working with Gary Robbins as well.  This too proved to be a life altering decision, as his family visibly saw the positive change in him.  He and Jason had done several home projects together and knew they enjoyed working as a team, so being with Gary together was a good fit.  He too was able to build on what he already knew and learn so much more from Gary. 

Unfortunately, Gary took ill towards the end of 2004, and musings of starting their own business became a quick reality.  With Gary’s support, they slowly started doing their own jobs, gaining more and more of a clientele of their own.  Sadly, Gary passed away in 2005.   By this point, luckily they were well on their way to a flourishing business, backed by Jim’s strong leadership skills and ability to deal well with customers, and Jason’s creative ability and vision.

Today they find themselves doing everything from small decks to complete home renovations and everything in between, thanks to the help of the 3 sub contractors they currently have working with them.  No job is too big or small, and they take it all on with a smile.  Laughter is often heard from the job site, as these men truly enjoy what they are doing.
